Looks like Mariah Carey's dedication to donning plunging necklines and micro-minis has paid off. The London Mirror says the chanteuse is being pitched a heaping helping of woo by a generous secret admirer.

Mariah, 35, reportedly received a diamond ring and matching bracelet from the undercover suitor during her stay this week at the ritzy Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo, where she jetted to perform at the Fashion Rocks bash.

In addition to the bright and shiny objects, the well-heeled mystery man also sent the "We Belong Together" singer several massive flower arrangements that had hotel staffers scrambling to find vases.

"A girl always loves to get surprises," Carey told the Mirror. "It's very flattering."

Philip Roth has been honored in his hometown of Newark, N.J., which has served as the setting for many of his 26 books including his latest, "The Plot Against America."

Roth was greeted at his childhood home by 75 fans who were on a bus tour Sunday of places in Newark that have been featured in his novels. Mayor Sharpe James helped Roth unveil a plaque on the home and a street sign renaming the road Philip Roth Plaza. "Today, Newark is my Stockholm and that plaque is my prize," the 72-year-old writer told the crowd at the Weequahic Branch Library, in comments reported by the Star-Ledger of Newark. The Nobel Prize is awarded annually in Stockholm, Sweden.

Roth had been considered a front-runner for this year's Nobel, but it went to British playwright Harold Pinter. "The Plot Against America," a book about what might have happened if Charles A. Lindbergh had run for president and defeated Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1940, is set in Newark's Weequahic neighborhood.

At $25,000 per minute, advice from Donald Trump doesn't come cheap.

That didn't stop thousands of fans from flocking to a Sunday lecture by the real estate mogul, who received $1.5 million for the hour-long speech.

The star of "The Apprentice" urged listeners to be aggressive and remain suspicious of advisers.

"When somebody challenges you, fight back," Trump said, according to published reports. "Be brutal, be tough, Just go get them." Aspiring dealmakers should work with others while maintaining a competitive edge, he told the crowd at the Learning Annex event in New York, which cost between $100 and $500 per ticket.

"Get the best people and don't trust them," he said. "Work with them, but they have to have respect for you."

Justin Timberlake, who once told ex-girlfriend Britney Spears to "Cry Me a River," is coming to her defense.

Photos of Spears, her husband, Kevin Federline, and the couple's infant son were published online Friday, but were taken down within hours after her record label, Jive Records, issued a statement threatening legal action.

"When a person like her, who's obviously a sweet person, is having their first child, it's like, "leave the girl alone,'" Timberlake told "Access Hollywood" in an interview to air Monday. Excerpts were released in advance.

"I do think that's crossing the line," the 24-year-old singer said. "That's her baby and those are her baby pictures."
