"The launch of the Commercial Channel Access Program reinforces AMD's goal of meeting the needs of end customers through the delivery of highly targeted, market-relevant solutions," said Kevin Knox, vice president, Worldwide Commercial Business, AMD. "AMD's robust channel program has been a cornerstone of our business for decades and today's announcement marks another milestone in our commitment to customer-centric innovation and to the many long-standing and successful relationships we enjoy with our expanding network of channel customers. By leveraging a strong collaborative model, we will be able to extend our reach into new commercial markets to deliver innovative joint AMD64 processor-based solutions."

The Commercial Channel Access Program provides Web-based self-service access to resources and education through the AMD Access Portal, distributed channel communications including newsletters and alerts, AMD product information, white paper and success story templates, partner solution registration, joint customer solution pilots and channel-specific marketing support. Partners will also have access to the AMD business development team, field-based channel account managers (where applicable), opportunities to collaborate with AMD and its ISV communities, as well as AMD-supported campaigns to help build awareness. AMD said it would also be offering membership in a newly formed AMD Commercial Channel Council where participants can share their views and gain early insights into AMD plans and access to executives.

The Program's Web portal is designed to allow access to tools, information, training and practical help in multiple languages. This is intended to help participants bring AMD64 processor technology to market quickly and provide a high level of service to their customers. Access to demo units for evaluation and sales opportunities will be also available on the site.

AMD said it has built the program after listening to customers and in response to the fast-changing needs of customers. This, the company said, enables it to direct services and resources to worldwide channel partners, help identify new solutions opportunities and coordinate channel activities to build upon the strengths of AMD's original equipment manufacturer (OEM) relationships to create shared successes.

The Commercial Channel Access Program is expected to expand its member support over the coming months with a wide variety of programs such as specialized technical support, information resources to help keep members up to date on the latest technology news and extensive tool kits for co-marketing the newly developed solutions. The program will also help drive benefits for end-user commercial customers as solutions briefs become readily available to help them determine the most effective solution to solve their business challenges.

AMD said that through the AMD Commercial Channel Access Program it has already staffed and funded over 20 solutions and campaigns with more than 15 different systems integrators, VARs and distributors participating in the program. Inaugural participants include Avnet Computing Components, CDW, Ciber IT Operations Services, Continental Resources, EDS, En Pointe Technologies, Forsythe Solutions Group, GTSI Corp., Ingram Micro, Insight Enterprises, PC Connection Services, Pomeroy IT Solutions, Sayers, Scalar Decisions and Tech Data Corp.
